Welcome to the Village of Cookstown

The Village of Cookstown, at the crossroads in Canada's history has been a gateway to Simcoe County and Georgian Bay since 1825 when John Perry brought his family to Cookstown naming the hamlet Perry's Corners.

Area Accommodations  &  Visitor Information

Years later the Dixon family (Dixon's Corners) built a Inn/Tavern to serve the ever increasing traffic traveling to the western townships. Settler's at this time were of Scots or Irish descent and they traveled west by way of Cookstown to their new homesteads. These settler's, many of these were army veterans awarded 100 acre parcels of uncleared bush lots for their service to Britain during the war with the Americans of 1812-1814. By 1847, Thomas Cooke had sub-divided lots and in 1962 the hamlet was incorporated as the Village of Cookstown.
